Headbangaz Sign To Vocal Graffiti
Southern California-based hip hop act, The Headbangaz, have recently been signed to East Coast start-up
label, Vocal Graffiti Records. Nowadays, media-driven record labels predictably pump out cookie-cutter
hip hop "artists" to appeal to the kids who believe that the amount of "bling" a rapper shows off equals
the amount of respect that rapper has in the hip hop industry. Vocal Graffiti knows that genuine
respect in hip hop comes from the streets- real, raw lyrics and brutal beats that the fans are able to
relate to. If you're looking for a band that has truly gained notoriety and has earned its street cred,
the Headbangaz are exactly what you have been looking for. The Headbangaz take hip hop back to its roots
with its chilling, harmonious blend of vocals and rhythms and creation of its innovative street sound.
These guys don't just write music, they also have the purpose and vision that has propelled them to
spread their message to the world. Keep your eyes and ears open for more news on the Headbangaz because
their diesel beats will soon be exploding from systems throughout your hood.
In Fall 2004, The Headbangaz will be releasing their debut full length album entitled, Rather Feared Than Loved on Vocal Graffiti. Release date coming soon- sign up on our mailing list to be one of the first to know about upcoming releases and events. Superstar Quamallah Featured in Vibe Magazine
Bicoastal DJ/producer/grad student Superstar Quamallah's rap career was something of an accidental birth.
After completing the beats on a demo intended for a friend to rhyme over, the Ph. D. candidate (in "hip
hop"…only at Berkeley, right?) cut his own vocals in demonstration of how finished songs should sound.
The project fell through though, but Quam eventually realized his original versions were strong enough to
release on their own. The three-sided single, "Just Rap"/"Properly Done"/ "Wit It" (ABB), takes its
driving lead track from last year's Don't Call Me John EP and adds a new pair of ominous, slice 'n'
dice productions (with longtime associate Swahili sharing mike time). On "Wit It," Quam explains his
brand-new bag: "Got a new trade/I'm paid wit it/It's called rhymin'/Bet you suckers wish you stayed wit
it." Watch these rap scholars get all up in your guts!
